Creating a SOAP Device

After creating a device with the SOAP protocol, you'll land on its Configuration tab. This is where you provide the connection details Koios needs to communicate with a SOAP web service.

Configuration Fields

SOAP Type

The type of SOAP service you're connecting to. This determines which additional configuration fields are shown.

• Required

Hostname

The hostname or IP address of the RDM controller. Enter the host on its own — no scheme and no path — because Koios builds the service address from it.

Timeout (seconds)

How long Koios waits for the SOAP service to respond before giving up.

• Default: 5 seconds (the Add Device form pre-fills 30)
• Minimum: 1 second
• Maximum: 300 seconds (5 minutes)

RDM Username

The username for authenticating with the RDM controller. This field appears when the SOAP type is set to RDM.

RDM Password

The password for authenticating with the RDM controller. This field appears when the SOAP type is set to RDM.

RDM Web Authentication

Enable this option if the RDM controller requires web-based authentication in addition to the SOAP credentials.

• Default: Disabled (unchecked)
• This field appears when the SOAP type is set to RDM

After Configuration

Once you've filled in the connection settings:

1. Save the configuration
2. Test the connection: click the

   Test

   button to verify Koios can reach the SOAP service
3. Add tags: define the RDM device and parameter for each data point (see Creating a SOAP Tag)
4. Enable the device: flip the enable switch to start scanning
